JMPD apprehended robbery suspects including two females

BRAMLEY - Five suspects, including three males and two females involved in a robbery that occurred in Orange Groove, were successfully apprehended by Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) officers together with SAPS members and private security in Bramley View. 

At approximately 06h45 on Sunday, while refuelling at a BP filling station on Louis Botha Avenue, officers were approached by a distressed male. The victim reported that he had been robbed at the intersection of 7th Street and Louis Botha Avenue by five individuals in a red Volkswagen Jetta. The suspects had robbed him of his money and cellphones and even transferred money from his bank account to their cellphones.

Officers immediately responded, taking the victim along to identify the suspects and their vehicle. They swiftly called for backup and, with the victim's assistance, located the suspect vehicle parked near Pick 'n Pay in Bramley View. The officers, with the assistance of private security, JMPD CCTV and Tactical Response Units (TRU), and the South African Police Service (SAPS), entered the mall and successfully apprehended all five suspects.

All of the victim's robbed property was recovered from the suspects during a search. The suspects were arrested for robbery and possession of stolen property. They were detained at Norwood SAPS, and are due to appear in court soon.
