ROODEPOORT - Honeydew SAPS  successfully apprehended a suspect following the theft of a motor vehicle at the China Mall parking area in Weltevredenpark, Roodepoort. According to the Honeydew CPF, police officers were conducting a routine patrol when they were alerted by members of the public who were shouting and pointing toward a grey Nissan Navara bakkie approximately five vehicles ahead of the police vehicle, as it was about to exit onto the main road. The eye witness informed officers that the vehicle had just been stolen. Police immediately intervened and approached the vehicle. The suspect attempted to evade arrest by making a U-turn to escape the traffic; however, officers executed a tactical takedown and successfully apprehended the suspect. SANDTON - A memorial service for Warrick Stock aka DJ Warras is being held at The Galleria in Sandton today, Friday, 19 December. Warras was gunned down outside Zambesi House, one of many hijacked buildings in the central Johannesburg on 16 December. Family, industry associates  and friends have gathered to pay tribute to the fallen hero, who used his expertise in the media and security to empower others. DURBAN - The festive season has become more exciting in Durban as the streets were lit up by the Metro to flourish. This week, eThekwini Municipality Mayor, Councillor Cyril Xaba, officially illuminated the City’s Christmas lights.  According to the Metro, these lights are a captivating displays along Dr. Pixley ka Seme Street, a key entrance to the City, heralding a season brimming with events and celebrations.

DURBAN - EThekwini Municipality Mayor, Councillor Cyril Xaba, mingled and interacted with beachgoers this week as he monitors the festive season management plans he recently announced. JOHANNESURG - Popular DJ and entrepreneur  Warrick Stock aka DJ Warras   has been assassinated this afternoon, Tuesday, 16 December in the Johannesburg CBD. MMC for Public Safety in Johannesburg Dr Mgcini Tshwaku took to X to verify the claims. "SAPS have confirmed that DJ Warras has sadly passed away following a shooting incident at the corner of Von Wielligh and Commissioner Street, Johannesburg. "JMPD officers are on scene, and the matter is under investigation. Further communication will follow through official public safety channels and Saps channels. "We extend our sincere condolences to the family and all those affected," he said. It is reported that DJ Warras was assisting with the reclaiming of a hijacked building in Johannesburg when a car drove by and opened fire. This is a developing story.

DURBAN - Five (5) people have been confirmed deceased following a structural collapse at a temple in Redcliffe, KwaZulu-Natal. Search and Rescue technicians have recovered five bodies from the debris. The body of a fifth individual has been located, however, recovery efforts were suspended due to inclement weather conditions. RUSA has confirmed the successful recovery of the last body from the tragedy. The temple collapsed on Friday - prompting an urgent rescue mission from various emergency units.  

DURBAN - Public assistance is required in locating a silver VW Polo that was reported stolen in Durban. The vehicle was stolen from the Laguna Pools on the Durban Beachfront in Durban - KZN, at approximately 14:00 on Tuesday, 10 December 2025. GAUTENG - On Monday, 8 December 2025, the Anti-Gang Unit (AGU), under the leadership of Lieutenant Colonel Arends, conducted a search operation at the Heidelberg Correctional Facility. This initiative was executed in collaboration with facility management, including the Communications Department, the Emergency Support Team (EST), and various units of the South African Police Service (SAPS). The operation involved the search of over 100 inmates, resulting in the confiscation of numerous illegal items, including cellphones, chargers, earphones, a laptop, cash, dagga, tattoo machines, and various grocery items. GAUTENG - Traffic authorities have arrested more than 500 drunk drivers nationally over the weekend in a drive intended to reduce the number road crashes and fatalities in this festive season period. The highest number of arrests were in Gauteng, followed by North West and the Eastern Cape from Friday to Sunday. The National Traffic Police also contributed immensely by arresting a total of 104 drivers. MPUMALANGA - Seven people lost their lives instantly when a sedan and a light delivery vehicle (LDV) collided on the N12 between Ogies and Emalahleni on Monday morning (08 December 2025).  The crash happened when one of the vehicles seemingly lost control and veered completely off the road and crossed into the opposite direction before colliding with the vehicle in the opposite lane. The road is such that there is space in the middle of two roadways going in opposite directions, each with multiple lanes. This seems to suggest that one of the vehicles must have been moving at a high speed.  Five of the deceased were occupants in the sedan, and two victims were in the LDV. There were no survivors in this crash. DURBAN - EThekwini Municipality has assured the public that the incident captured in a video currently circulating on social media, purporting to show a gas explosion in the Durban CBD, was not a gas-related event, contrary to speculation. The incident which took place at the corner of Dorothy Nyembe and Anton Lembede streets was the result of electrical cable arcing. Arcing refers to an electrical discharge or spark that occurs when electricity jumps between damaged conductors. In this case, the spark and visible flare stemmed from minor cable damage, and not from ageing infrastructure. "Crucially, there were no injuries, fatalities, or disruptions to electricity supply in the area. BRAKPAN - QRF Task Team Owner and Madlanga Commission Witness Marius van der Merwe was fatally shot in Brakpan, east of Johannesburg. Van der Merwe, a key witness (Witness D) at the Madlanga Commission, was tragically shot and killed last night (Friday) in front of his family. He had recently testified before the commission, where he implicated several high-ranking police officials — including Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department senior officer Julius Mkhwanazi — in allegations of corruption and the cover-up of a murder case. The motive for the attack remains unclear at this stage. Authorities have launched an investigation into the killing.

Isaac Malope who escaped from lawful custody has been rearrested after receiving information from Crime Intelligence. CATO RIDGE - Just after Midnight on Tuesday Morning ALS Paramedics responded to a serious Taxi Crash on the N3 Pietermaritzburg bound near Cato Ridge, West of Durban.  Paramedics arrived on the scene to find chaos as they found that a single taxi fully loaded with teenagers had somehow lost control and overturned coming to rest on its side. Multiple casualties were found and immediately more Ambulances as well as Advanced Life Support Paramedics were dispatched to assist.  A total of Thirteen Teenagers had sustained various injuries and once stabilized on the scene they were transported to various Pietermaritzburg Hospitals for the further care that they required.  At this stage the events leading up to the crash is unknown however all necessary authorities were in attendance and will be investigating further.

GAUTENG - The National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) is urging members of the public to carefully consider launching boats or other craft onto Hartbeespoort Dam at this time, due to extensive water hyacinth coverage that presents serious and growing safety hazards. The floating mass of hyacinth currently covers large areas of the dam. It is expected to increase rapidly in the coming weeks. Hyacinth growth at Hartbeespoort typically accelerates during the summer season, and changes in wind direction are causing these thick mats to move swiftly and unpredictably across the water. PRETORIA - The Gauteng Traffic Police (GTP) High-Speed Unit arrested over 20 motorists for excessive speeding along Gauteng freeways. The suspects recorded between 148km/h and 195 km/h in a 120km/h zone. The suspects were charged with reckless and negligent driving, with an alternative charge of exceeding the prescribed speed limit. Motorists are reminded to prioritise theirs and the safety of others. Every driver must obey the traffic laws, including speed limits, to ensure safer roads for all.

DURBAN - Police have confirmed that an inquiry docket has been opened against Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla following the apparent recruitment of a group of men allegedly involved in the Ukraine/Russian war. According to SAPS spokesperson Brig Athlenda Mathe, Nkosazana Bonganini Zuma-Mncube has deposed an affidavit at the Sandton police station for police to investigate Zuma-Sambudla, Siphokasi Xuma and Blessing Khosa.  "This in relation to seventeen South African men who are allegedly trapped in the Ukraine/Russian War. Ms Mncube claims the men were lured to Russia under false pretences and handed to a Russian mercenary group to fight in the Ukrainian war without their knowledge or consent," she said. Mathe said the docket has been handed over to the HAWKS Crimes Against the State (CATS) component for further investigation.

GREYTOWN - At least three people have been swept away and homes destroyed in northern KwaZulu-Natal this evening. KZN MEC for Transport and Human Settlements Siboniso Duma is expected to visit  the area by 08h00 tomorrow morning. "I have recieved distressed calls from various communities in New Hanover, Dalton and other areas in Umshwathi Local Municipality. Roving teams from both human settlements and transport departments, including our Ambassador Ayanda Msweli, are already assessing the damage. I will join the teams at 08h00 tomorrow morning," MEC Duma stated. He further stated: "Three people have been swept away and reported missing. Some communities have been evacuated to the community hall. I will engage with the Minister of Human Settlements, Thembi Simelane, as part of efforts to strengthen and augment our intervention. NASREC - As part of ongoing operations to ensure the smooth running of the G20 Leaders’ Summit, a brazen carjacker was wounded after a foiled hijacking attempt by the South African Police Service’s (SAPS) National Intervention Unit (NIU) on Friday evening, 21 November 2025. The brazen carjacker attempted to steal a vehicle that is allocated to the G20. At the time, the vehicle was transporting #NIU members who were conducting patrols in and around Johannesburg. While conducting patrols along Empire Road, the hijacker jumped onto the road and pointed a firearm at the driver. Unbeknown to him, the occupants of the vehicle were NIU members. A shot was fired by one of the NIU members towards the suspect, and he sustained a gunshot wound to the upper body. It was later discovered that the hijacker had used an imitation firearm. KRUGERSDORP - Onlookers have been warned from sharing footage from a major accident outside Silverstar Casino this morning.  It has been reported that a truck lost its brakes and crashed into multiple vehicles, with at least 20 vehicles involved. JOHANNESBURG  - The Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) confirms a significant and concerning number of arrests for Driving Under the Influence (DUI) of alcohol during an intensified week of operations across the City of Johannesburg. Between Monday, 10th November 2025, and Sunday, 16th November 2025, JMPD officers apprehended a total of 137 motorists for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. FREE STATE - The South African Police Service (SAPS) in the Lejweleputswa District conducted a #SaferFestiveSeason operation today, 17 November 2025. The operation commenced with a multidisciplinary roadblock held on the N1 Road, near Ventersburg.  The operation was held alongside other stakeholders, including the Department of Home Affairs and Free State Provincial Traffic. The operation was led by Lt Colonel Botsane. The objective of the operation was to conduct stop and searches for unlawful goods, ensure road safety, and compliance for undocumented persons. During the operation, officials interacted with motorists while providing crime prevention and safety tips. Business compliance checks were also conducted at various liquor establishments, in the Ventersburg area during the operation.

DURBAN - A collision involving multiple trucks has claimed the life of one driver on Sunday, 16 November. The fatal collision occurred on the N3 Durban bound, near Warwick. POLOKWANE - Limpopo superstar Shebeshxt was remanded in custody and his case for attempted murder was postponed to next week Friday. Lehlogonolo Chauke, also known as Shebeshxt appeared in Court at Polokwane, Limpopo Province today. The case has been postponed to next week Friday, as NPA seeks to consolidate several other violent cases he is accused of committing.  The 30-year-old Lekompo artist is facing charges of attempted murder, possession of an unlicensed firearm, and malicious damage to property, all linked to a road-rage shooting last month. POLOKWANE - Limpopo superstar Shebeshxt, has been arrested on two counts of attempted murder on 12 November. Real name, Lehlogonolo Katlego Chauke, was nabbed by police following a shooting incident in Polokwane last month (October). It is reported that the Lekompo artist fired shots during a road rage brawl. The arrest took place in the morning in Bendor, a suburb in Polokwane. Police have confirmed that Shebeshxt has been charged with attempted murder. He is expected to appear before the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, 13 November 2025, to face the charge.

KEMPTON PARK - The South African Police Service (SAPS) Anti-Kidnapping Task Team has safely reunited an Indian businessman with his family following a shootout with an alleged mastermind behind the businessman’s kidnapping. The businessman was found in Alexandra in a shack shortly after midnight on Thursday, 04 September 2025. His rescue follows a shooting in which the alleged mastermind behind his kidnapping was shot and killed during confrontation with police officers near the R21 in Kempton Park on Wednesday evening. The suspect who goes by the nickname “Dollarman” is a wanted kidnapping kingpin in both SA and in Mozambique. He is on SERNIC which is Mozambique’s wanted persons database where he was a wanted for several kidnapping for ransoms cases. In SA he was also linked to at least five kidnapping for ransom cases as well as other cases of housebreaking, carjacking and possession of unlicensed firearms. SOWETO - One person has been declared dead and two injured after e-hailing vehicles were attacked by unknown suspects at Maponya Mall this evening, 13 August 2025. According to information at hand, an ehailing vehicle was seen stopping at the entrance when about four men approached the driver and shot at him before torching the vehicle.  Another vehicle which was nearby was shot at and the driver managed to flee and his vehicle was also torched.  It was later discovered that the driver and another passerby sustain gun shot wounds and were taken to hospital.  A case of murder, attempted murder with two counts and arson is opened for further investigations.  The SAPS and JMPD are on the scene to monitor the situation which is suspected to be taxi violence related.

GERMISTON - The Department of Home Affairs says it is collating evidence and will open criminal charges against the anarchists who set a block of flats on fire in Germiston, which then spread to the neighbouring Home Affairs office.  'It is nothing less than an attack on our social infrastructure and cannot stand," says the department. The Home Affairs building went up in flames amid violent clashes related to eviction disputes. The unrest has led to the closure of key streets, including President, Queen, and Jack. Residents are demanding to occupy Pharoe Park flats without paying rent, escalating tensions on the ground. This is a developing story.

JOHANNESURG - The South African Police  Service (SAPS) is offering a cash reward for anyone who has information on Jabulani Thabang Moyo who is wanted in connection with the killing of two police officers in Roodepoort on Friday, 08 August 2025. "We are putting a R150 000 cash reward for anyone who can lead us to where he is. This criminal is very dangerous, do not approach him, he has no regard for life and we are warning anyone that has information to come forward and not approach this killer," said SAPS in a statement. NATURENA - Kaizer Chiefs has informed its supporters that Coach Nasreddine Nabi will not be traveling with the team to Cape Town for its opening game of the 2025/26 Betway Premiership season against Stellenbosch FC this Sunday. A critical accident involving his wife has occurred at his home in Tunisia, prompting the coach to travel this evening to be with her and the family. According to the club, coach Nabi will return to South Africa once the situation has stabilised.  The coach has had discussions with the technical team to prepare for the game. In Coach Nabi’s absence, first assistant coach Khalil Ben Youssef and second assistant coach Cedric Kaze will be on bench for the upcoming game.  Kaizer Chiefs has extended its best wishes to Coach Nabi and his family during this challenging time.

DURBAN - Twelve injured in serious accident involving a bus and a taxi on Sarnia Road, Rossburgh Durban just before 6am on Tuesday morning.   ALS Paramedics Medical Services arrived on the scene to find total carnage after a bus and a fully laden taxi had collided. Paramedics quickly set up a triage system and immediately called for more ambulances as well as Advanced Life Support Paramedics to assist with the multiple casualty scene. A total of Twelve people sustained injuries ranging from moderate to severe and were stabilized on the scene before been transported to various Durban Hospitals for the further care that they required.  At this stage the events leading up to the accident are unknown however SAPS were on the scene and will be investigating further.

PIETERMARITZBURG - On Saturday afternoon, Mi7 Strategic Threat Response Unit members were asked to provide backup to Cartrack teams who were tracing the location of a bakkie that had been stolen from a Midlands property.  A joint operation was immediately initiated between Mi7, Cartrack, and the police's Flying Squad. All units proceeded to the vehicle's last known coordinates in the Ashdown area. There, the stolen bakkie was spotted with two men inside. The team swooped in on the vehicle - strategically surrounding it - and the duo were apprehended. Both men were linked to the theft of the vehicle, and were placed under arrest by police officers on scene.
