VANDERBIJLPARK - The Vanderbijlpark SAPS combined units and our steadfast stakeholders joined hands today in commemoration of the 67 minutes of Mandela Day. This momentous event was held at the Marikana informal settlement, where a meal was served to people in need, and the children were also given teddy bears. The excitement shown on the faces of the children reflected their gratitude. Brigadier Ndwandwe applauded the initiative and emphasised the importance of giving back to the community.

Kenneth Mashaba, as he was notoriously known on Generations, shocked the entertainment industry after his family broke the news about his passing. EMPANGENI -  In commemoration of Mandela Month, the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) participated in a Mandela Day programme convened by Pink Drive in the Vulindlela Township of KwaDlangezwa. Pink Drive is a non-profit organisation assisting in the fight against cancer. A team of NPA officials comprised of Seneliso Sibanda, Mandisa Sikakane , Amanda Nxumalo who are Court Preparation Officers, Nomusa Nkosi who is the Senior Public Prosecutor, Summi Harrynand the Control and Thembi Mkhwanazi, the Case Manager. They set up a mini kitchen where breakfast was served to the members of the community who came in for cancer screening. The NPA team utilised the platform to educate people about the work of the Court Preparations Unit and services of the NPA in general. The NPA participated along with the Department of Health as well as the Department of Justice and Constitutional Development.

67 Minutes Outreach Programme – Nelson #MandelaDay DURBAN - In honour of Nelson Mandela Day, Isipingo Social Crime Prevention hosted a heartfelt outreach programme at a local orphanage as part of the annual 67 Minutes initiative, celebrating the legacy of former President Nelson Mandela. Members, together with stakeholders, extended their love and support to the children by donating clothing, groceries, books and various gifts. DURBAN NORTH - A major investigation led by Marshall Security’s Special Operations Team and Investigations Division, working in close partnership with the SAPS Ethekwini district task team, has resulted in the successful conviction of four accused linked to a series of violent robberies in which victims were lured through a social media dating platform. The convictions, handed down in the Durban Regional Court, mark the successful conclusion of an investigation that began in 2023 after Marshall Security members identified a disturbing trend involving suspects using fake social media profiles to target unsuspecting victims. Victims were allegedly lured to hotel rooms and bed and breakfast establishments in the Durban North, Umhlanga, and Ballito areas, where they were assaulted, restrained, robbed of their belongings, and forced to hand over access to their bank accounts. KEMPTON PARK - The Glen on Cars, an automotive community organisation, has stepped in to assist a humiliated Fidelity Services Group guard while simply trying to do his job. Teboho Kabayi, a guard stationed at BMW Kempton Park was belittled by two men travelling in a BMW who claimed to be millionaires while refusing to answer security questions at the dealership boom gate. The video which was meant to humiliate him has taken a different turn as social media and Good Samaritans rallied behind Kabayi. The Glen On Cars, one of the supporters conducted a fundraising campaign to help restore Kabayi's dignity. The campaign has raised over R30 000 for Kabayi. The so-called "millionaires" who allegedly run an internet café in Tembisa, a township in Ekurhuleni, have since posted another video defending their viral stance.

LENASIA - The Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) has advised motorists of an active protest action causing significant traffic disruptions in Lenasia. Klipspruit Valley Road (K43) is currently blocked and barricaded between Bangalore Street and Vaal Street, next to the Them'belihle Informal Settlement. The roadway is blocked off with burning tyres, rocks, and debris. The community is protesting over power outages in the are.
